SLICES encodes the arrangement of atoms in crystals into texts
Founded in January 2024 at the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, Lingnan University (Hong Kong SAR), we develop text-based representations and generative-AI methods for inverse solid-state materials design. Our SLICES representation—an invertible, symmetry-invariant crystallographic string—powers MatterGPT, a transformer that proposes novel crystals with multi-property targets.
