Fully Funded PhD Positions in AI4Materials Research

Starting date: Feb. 2026 or Sep. 2026 Scholarship: Full tuition waiver + HKD 19,300/month (36 months)

Research Areas

1. Development of invertible material representations for enabling inverse design
2. Inverse design of novel materials using large language models, diffusion models, and graph neural networks
3. Fine-tuning and architecture optimization of large language models
4. Inverse design of novel functional materials

Requirements:

1. Master’s degree in Physics, Computer Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, Mechanics, or related STEM field.
2. Familiarity with density functional theory (DFT) and at least one related software package, such as VASP, and Quantum Espresso.
3. At least one first-author publication in a relevant field.
4. Experience with Python programming and Large Language Models is an advantage.
5. English proficiency: TOEFL iBT ≥ 79 or IELTS ≥ 6.5.
